Ian Russell (Russ) McGill, 77, of Mesa, AZ, formerly of Ansonia, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 7, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of Dolores Konner McGill for 53 years. Ian was born on May 21, 1937 in New York, NY, son of the late John and Jean McGill.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Ian was employed by Sikorsky Aircraft for 37 years until his retirement in 1999.
Ian loved sports and volunteered as an Ansonia Little League and Biddy Basketball coach and also served as Commissioner of the Valley Parochial Basketball League. Celebrating the Christmas Holiday Season always had a special place in his heart as did spending time with his family and friends.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Russell (Susan) of Lakeville, MN, daughter Annelle Newcomb (Chris) of Chandler, AZ, daughter Lynn Clark of Parksley, VA, and six grandchildren – Meghan, Daniel, Ian, Cody, Allison and Cassidy. He also leaves a loving brother/sister-in-law, Joseph and Phyllis Konner of Shelton, CT along with two godchildren (Kathy, Lisa) and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A mass will be held in remembrance of Ian at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mesa, AZ.
A private ceremony will be held at a later date in Ansonia, CT.
