Ida Mae See Scaife, wife of 70 years to Richard Scaife and resident of Shelton, passed away Dec. 14, 2018.
She was born in Norwalk to the late Charles Franklyn and Ethel Lovett See.
She attended Sherman & Derby CT schools; and graduated from Derby HS.
She worked for Derby Savings Bank, A.H. Massey, Inc. in Derby and retired from Valley Chamber of Commerce as Executive Secretary in 1991.
In addition to her husband, she leaves her four children Richard W. (Carolyn) of Henrietta, NY, Gary S. (Kathy) of Prospect, CT, David A. (Diane) of Ansonia, CT, and Lisa Pimenta (Frank) of Ansonia, CT; nine grandchildren Richard P. Scaife (Jody) of MA, Sheri L. Dwinell of TX, Kristin H. Baillargeon (Jeremy) of FL, Dylan C. Scaife of CT, Deanna L. Scaife of CO, Francis J. Pimenta (Lauren) of NC, Kyle M. Pimenta (Ashley) of CT, David W. Pimenta of NC and Rebekah A. Yannes (Michael) of NC.
She also leaves four great grandchildren Kayla N. & Haley R. Dwinell, Justin R. Baillargeon and Finlay Pimenta; and by three very special cousins.
Ida served as a Den Mother for the Derby Boy Scouts Troop 3, and as Asst. Girl Scout Leader in Derby.
She was also a former member of Board of Directors of the Derby Historical Society.
As a member of the First Congregational Church of Ansonia, Ida served as a Sunday School Teacher, Wedding Coordinator, served on the Board of Deacons and as a member and President of the Women’s Fellowship.
She ran the Shelter Dinners for several years and organized the prayer shawl ministry at the church.
She especially enjoyed her family, square dancing, baking, crocheting, knitting and making crafts for friends and family.
She liked to walk and participate in exercise classes. She enjoyed many friends and so loved to play cards with them. Her very special friend was Laddie, her Shetland sheepdog, who died in 2011.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (DIRECTLY) at The First Congregational Church of Ansonia at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will follow at Oak Cliff Cemetery in Derby. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society.
