Ignatius M. Spiteri, 86, peacefully entered into eternal rest on July 5, 2017, at Griffin Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Lovisolo Spiteri.
Mr. Spiteri was born in Ansonia on December 2, 1930, son of the late Antonio and Angelina Palumbo Spiteri. A resident of Derby since he married in 1958, he was employed as a printer at Griffin Hospital for twenty-five years, until his retirement. Ignatius enjoyed playing the lottery each day and visiting the casinos.
He is survived by sons, Ronald A. Spiteri (Cindy) of Shelton and Robert A. Spiteri (Margaret) of Midland, VA, a daughter, Margaret Pitney (Carmen Jr.) of Ansonia, sisters, Rosemary Nicolo of Wolcott and Carmela Cosimano of CA, cherished grandchildren, Thomas Pitney, Kristen LaRovera, Matthew Pitney, Lauren Pitney, Katherine Mullins, Megan Spiteri and Anthony Spiteri, a great-grandson, Easton Mullins and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Mary Golino and Angelica DeLaurentis.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday July 7, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Saturday, his funeral will commence at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary Church in Derby. Entombment will immediately follow in Mt. St. Peter Garden Mausoleum in Derby.
