Ira J. Wilkinson, a 97-year-old resident of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest Dec. 12.
He was born in Ansonia July 9, 1917, son of the late Ira J. Wilkinson & Amy Peters Wilkinson.
He graduated from Ansonia’s Pine High School and worked as a machinist for Farrel Corp. for 42 years, until retirement.
Ira was a veteran of U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of Saint Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church in Bridgeport.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Beverly Wright & husband William of Ansonia and son Robert Wilkinson & wife Eileen in Naugatuck, and 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Elmer & Edward Wilkinson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 16 with friends and family gathering at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia at 8:45 a.m. (www.jenkinskingfh.com) The Funeral will leave for a 10:00 a.m. funeral service at Saint Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, 5458 Park Ave. Bridgeport CT (06604) with Very Rev. Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Trisagion services beginning at 5:00 p.m.
