Ismael Rivera, age 87, of Bridgeport, entered into rest on April 28, 2025 in St. Vincent Hospital with his loving family by his side. He is the devoted husband of 66 years to Nereida Rivera.
He was born in Aguada, Puerto Rico on January 9, 1938, son of the late Isaias and Isabel (Guzman) Rivera and has been a resident of Bridgeport for over 60 years. Ismael was a foreman for many years at Mahle Group until his retirement. He was a member and an usher at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Bridgeport.
He is the father of Ismael Jr, and his wife Diana Sanches, Elizabeth Fordin, and her husband William Fordin, Dianna Quaranta, and her husband Mike Quaranta, and Richard Rivera and his significant other Linda Rashan, loving grandfather of Richard Anthony Rivera, brother of Francisco Rivera, Gregory Rivera, Gladice Acevedo, and Judice Rivera. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and other family members.
Friends may call on Monday May 5, 2025 from 4 to 7 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd. Shelton. On Tuesday May 6, 2025 Please meet at St. Mary R.C. Church, 25 Sherman St. Bridgeport, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 pm. Burial will follow in Lawn Cemetery South 268 Huntington St. Shelton.
