Jacques “Jocko” R. Veillette, age 61, of Ansonia entered into rest on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Griffin Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of 4 years to Geralyn (Hines) Iverson. He was born in Derby on June 9, 1960 son of Yolande (Bellemare) Veillette and the late Raymond Veillette.
Jocko was a salesman for Entenmann’s for most of his career until his retirement in 2016. He was the President of the Adriatic Marchegian Club and was a member for over 40 years. He had a 40 year career of officiating and coaching baseball, basketball and football. Jocko served on the Board of Apportionment & Taxation for the City of Ansonia. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and going to the casinos. Jocko was a die-hard fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and San Francisco 49ers. He also loved his Corvettes. Jocko had a passion for cooking and was well known for his Halloween, New Years’s and summer parties.
He was the beloved brother of Suzanne (Steven) Reilly, Raymond (Lori) Veillette, Denise Veillette, Andre (Maria) Veillette and Paul Veillette, uncle of Raymond Veillette, Sarah Veillette, Joshua Emerich, Donnie (Angela) Laviano, Jared Laviano, Jeanine (Jeff) Spillane, David Arroyo, Jessica Arroyo and Michael Arroyo and brother-in-law of Donald (Cheryl) Laviano. Jocko was also survived by several great nieces and nephews and his beloved pet Akita Yoko.
Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 PM at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. Masks are required within the funeral home. On Saturday, friends are invited to go directly to St. Mary Church, 212 Elizabeth St., Derby for his Mass of Christian Burial at 12 PM . His entombment will follow at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery.
