James Gleason

James Gleason, a 96 year old resident of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest Dec. 12, 2012.

He was born Sept. 11, 1916 in Bridgeport, son of the late Michael & Josephine Bissonnette Gleason. He graduated from Derby High School, Class of 33 and The New Haven State Teachers’ College Class of 42.

He worked as a teacher, principal & superintendent for The Trumbull school system from 1946 to 1972, and worked at Derby Public Library for 13 years. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving as an Army Lieutenant in the European Theatre for 4 years, and was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Derby.

He is survived by 2 sons, Dennis Gleason (Dorothy) of Derby & Colin Gleason (Suzi) of Gypsum, Colorado and grandson Ryan Gleason (Jillian) of New Haven. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Brown Gleason of 63 years, daughter Margaret and sister Clayis Coburn.

At Mr. Gleason’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be private, and burial at the convenience of the family. Donation’s in his memory may be made to the CT Hospice of Branford through the funeral home. The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, is entrusted with arrangements.
