Woodbury- James H. Ravenscroft Sr., 90, died on Sunday, January 26, 2025 after a long illness with family at his side. He was born May 1, 1934 to the late George and Florence Ravenscroft.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Eleanor Stevenson Ravenscroft; his son Mark Ravenscroft and his wife Debi; his daughter Debra Breon and her husband Mahlon; by grandchildren Erik Ravenscroft, Steven Ravenscroft, Nicole Demers, Lonnie Breon, Kara Pillis, Joseph Familigetti, and David Familigetti. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, as well as, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, James Henry Ravenscroft Jr., his brothers George and Jere Ravenscroft; his sisters Joan Robinson and Jean Ashmore.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Woodbury, serving as a vestry member, an usher and head of construction for the church fair for many years. He was also active in Cursillo and Emmaus.
He was a member of the Masonic Orders; Shepard Salem Lodge No. 78 of Naugatuck and King Solomon’s Lodge No. 7 of Woodbury. He was a plumber by trade and ran his own business, Ravenscroft Plumbing and Heating and Woodbury Oil Company.
Beside enjoying time spent with his family, he was a model train buff and spent a great deal of time in his kayak. He loved to travel and visited 28 foreign countries, as well as, most of the United States. Many thanks to the Springs at the Watermark, where he lived as his “home” for the past two and a half years. Memorial donations may be made to the Woodbury Ambulance Association, St. Paul’s Church, or St. Jude’s Hospital.
