James J. Geoghan, 72, of Derby, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Nov. 6, 2013, in the comfort of his home, with his loving family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Madeline Bernardo Geoghan.
Mr. Geoghan was born in Derby on January 4, 1941, son of the late James J. and Mary Ellen Roche Geoghan.
A proud veteran, James honorably served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. He was employed in production control at Sikorsky Aircraft for 30 years and served as an auxiliary trooper for the Connecticut State Police Troop I in Bethany for 27 years.
James was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Ansonia Rod & Gun Club and Newtown Fish & Game Club.
He was also a member of the St. Michaels C.W.V. and the American Legion in Derby and the CT State Police Emerald Society.
In addition to his wife Madeline, he is survived by five sons, James G. Geoghan (Branwen) of Ansonia, Jason L. Geoghan (Michelle) of Hamden, Thomas DeStefano (Ann) of Trumbull, Gregory P. DeStefano (Diane) of Shelton and Frank M. DeStefano (Kim) of Ansonia, a daughter, Janelle Geoghan Johnson (Kurt) of Ansonia, 17 grandchildren, and many friends. He was predeceased by a brother, William Geoghan.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday November 8, 2013, from 4 – 8 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia.
On Saturday, friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral at 8:45 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at the Church of the Assumption in Ansonia.
Interment with U.S. Air Force military honors will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
