James L. “Butch” Mascolo, Jr., age 76, of Derby entered into rest on April 25, 2022 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of 50 years to Linda (McManus) Mascolo.
James was born in Derby on November 7, 1945 son of the late James L. and Mary (Mennillo) Mascolo and was a lifelong Derby resident. He worked for Valley Transit for over 25 years until his retirement in 2012. James coached Seymour Pop Warner Football in 1970 before becoming a Derby Pop Warner coach in the 1980’s and became its President for 27 years. He also assisted with the Derby High School Football program and coached Biddy Basketball and Little League. James was an avid fisherman, enjoyed camping and most recently visiting local parks with Linda. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
James was the beloved father of James E. (Emily) Mascolo, Daniel P. (Norell) Mascolo and brother of Dominic Mascolo, Pasquale Mascolo and Michael Mascolo. He was the loving grandfather of Kody, Kaydee, Luke, Desiree (Alexander Patturelli), William, Daniel, Benjamin and Emily and great grandfather of Mason. James was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. On Friday, his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St.Mary Church, Derby.
