James Merrill Burt, age 77, of Shelton entered into rest on Monday, August 23, 2021 at his home.
He was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on July 23, 1944, son of the late William and Gertrude (Maurin) Burt. James was an executive within the HR Consulting and Talent Acquisition industries for many years until his retirement.
He loved his fraternity brothers, golfing, playing poker on Fridays with his friends, animals and arts. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family. James was known for his great sense of humor that everyone enjoyed.
He was the beloved father of Jason Burt and his fiancee Megan Horan and Eric Burt and his wife Melissa, step-father of Beth Tortorici and her husband Joseph, Diane McNally and her husband Stephen and Karen Reinisch, brother of Larry Burt and his wife Lynn and longtime friend of Eileen Moore. James was the loving grandfather of Madeleine, Colin and Isabelle Burt, Lauren, Jenny, Caroline Tortorici and Stephen and Jessica McNally.
Friends may call on Friday from 10:30 – 11:00 AM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. His funeral will follow at 11:00 AM at the parlor. His burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan. Everyone is required to wear masks.
