James Michael Esposito, age 79, of Derby entered into rest on Monday, August 12, 2024 at Griffin Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was the devoted husband of 58 years to Naya (Wozniak) Esposito. He was born in Derby on July 21, 1945 son of the late Michael and Margaret (D’Amaro) Esposito and was a lifelong resident of Derby.
Jimmy was a mechanic for the City of Derby Public Works for 19 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Hotchkiss Hose Company #1 for 54 years serving as the Captain from 1974 – 1975 and 1979 – 1980. Jimmy was also the chief engineer and chief driver at Hotchkiss Hose. He also enjoyed hunting and watching car racing.
Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family. Jimmy was the beloved father of Christina Vizzo and her husband Paul, Adrienne Esposito and the late James Esposito, Jr. and brother of Robert Esposito. He was the loving grandfather of Brian Vizzo and his wife Samantha, David Vizzo and Amanda DuBail and her husband Dave and great grandfather of Connor James Vizzo, Saleen Lucinda Vizzo, Waylon Michael DuBail and Wyatt James DuBail.
Friends may call Friday August 16, 2024 from 4 to 7 pm with the Parastas Service at 6:30 pm in the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd, Shelton. His funeral service will be held on Saturday August 17, 2024 at 9:30 am in Christ the Savior Orthodox Church, 1070 Roxbury Rd. Southbury, CT. Burial will follow in Three Saints Cemetery, Seymour. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be to the family through the funeral home.
