Mr. James “Jim” Henry Somers, age 89, of Oxford, beloved husband of the late Guenn Dow Somers passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at his home.
He was born in Trenton, New Jersey on March 12, 1920 to the late Frank and Margaret (Miller) Somers. Mr. Somers was an inventor and designer. He is a U.S. Air Force Veteran and served during WWII. Jim was a member of AA for 40 years.
Jim is survived by four daughters, Storm Somers of West Haven, Alegra Davidson of Winsted and Mavis Somers of Canyondam, CA, and Catherine of Wilmington, DE, four grandchildren, Delia Olufokunbi Sam, Honor Glenn, Hope Davidson, Michael Sessler, three great grandchildren, Torrent, Acacia and Valkyrie Glenn.
He is also survived by a sister, Margaret Pope of Killingworth and a number of nieces and nephews, and his loving caregiver, Sharon Bailey and her daughters, Melissa and Alicia Ratter and many dear friends. His brother, William Somers predeceased him.
Services and interment will be held in private.
