James William Walsh, Esquire, age 70, entered into his eternal rest on Monday May 29, 2017.
He is the devoted husband of 35 years to Sheila Bridges Walsh.
Jim was born in Derby, on November 7, 1946 son of the late Thomas R. and Loretta (Mulready) Walsh. He was educated at St. Mary’s School, Derby High School, received his BS degree from Southern CT State University, and Law Degree from Western New England College and went on to practice law for over forty-five years at Bennett and Walsh in Ansonia.
Jim enjoyed Christmas with his family, as well as hiking at Mt Washington and in National Parks. He did a great deal of pro bono work, was a former member of the Board of Directors of TEAM Inc., and a former member of the Valley United Way Campaign Cabinet. He played and coached for the Kasden basketball and softball teams and for the Bennett and Walsh basketball team that won over forty State Championships in the senior games, and finished as high as second in the national senior games.
He is the loving father of Gregory Walsh, Patrick Walsh, Brian Walsh, and Kelly Cannizzio, and her husband Brian. He is the loving brother of his twin John J. Walsh, Thomas A. Walsh, and Alice Walsh Murphy. He is the cherished grandfather of Austin Walsh, Justin Walsh, Aaron Walsh, Tyler Hunter Walsh, Keilah Anne Walsh and Oliver Vincent Cannizzio. He also leaves many nieces, and nephews.
Friends may greet his family on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM in the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home 253 Elizabeth Street Derby. On Friday his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Mary’s Church. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery Derby.
