Jane Phyllis Conroy, 97, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday evening February 23, 2013, at Griffin Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late John “Bernie” Conroy.
Mrs. Conroy was born in Ansonia on January 1, 1916, daughter of the late Sebastian and Susan Lanteri Cannata. A lifelong resident of Ansonia, she was employed at the former Cheeseman’s and The Evening Sentinel both in Ansonia. She was a devout communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia and a member of the Rosary Guild. Jane enjoyed cooking for her family and was a member of the “Yolanda Girls”.
She is survived by 3 sons, Robert B. Conroy (Gail) and Kevin J. Conroy of Ansonia and Richard S. Conroy (Sherri) of Wolcott, a daughter, Patricia B. Bednarik (Edward J., Sr.) of Ansonia, a brother, Sebastian Cannata of Ansonia, a sister, Violet Lloyd of Orange, 4 cherished grandchildren, Amy Bell (Joseph) of Ft. Bragg, NC, Edward J. Bednarik Jr. (Pasqualina) of Brookfield, Bethany M. Conroy and Benjamin T. Conroy of Wolcott, 2 great-grandchildren, Julia and Joseph Bednarik and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Anna J. Vacca and Minnie Dube.
Visiting will take place on WEDNESDAY MORNING February 27, 2013, from 8:30 am until 9:30 am in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. At 9:40 am, her funeral will process to Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery in Derby.
