Janet A. Kapitan, a 76 year old Seymour resident and loving wife to Richard W. Kapitan, entered into eternal rest Jan. 22. She was born Nov. 16, 1947 in Arlington, MA., daughter of the late Dennis and Alice Miller Hurley.
She graduated from Arlington High School MA. and worked as a banker for Housatonic Bank & Trust in Ansonia, then Janet worked in the rubbish industry for 35 years for W.R. Archer Co., BFI, ADS, Waste Management Inc., Winter Bros, and retiring from Oak Ridge. In addition to her husband, she leaves her sister Mary Murray of Billerica, MA., nephew Rian Murray (Jo Anne) of Burlington, MA., niece Shannon DeOliveira (Anthony) of Billerica, MA., and grand nieces Aislinn, Maeve & Neala.
She was a ‘Cat Mom’ to six rescued cats: Maxwell, Truman, Winston, Shadow, Smudge & Smokey. She also helped care for feral cats in the neighborhood with Seymour Cares with feeding, neutering and finding forever homes as well as the local deer. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Dennis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Jan. 26th at 10:00 a.m., with friends asked to go directly to St. Joseph’s Church in Ansonia. Entombment in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery Mausoleum in Derby will follow. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The Seymour Cares Animal Shelter, 115 Silvermine Rd, Seymour, Ct. The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, has been privileged with arrangements.
