Janet Louise (Bennett) Onidi, 74, of Shelton passed away on Wednesday September 8, 2021, at Waterbury Hospital Hospice, with loving family by her side. Janet was the loving wife of the late Raymond Onidi and the daughter of the late Orlando and Eva (Smith) Bennett and she grew up in Southbury with her foster parents David and Hester Scott and twin sister and best friend June.
Survivors include her children, Michele Koslowski (Robert) of Ansonia, Aaron Onidi (Danielle) of MA , Daryl Onidi (Michelle) of Shelton, Raymond Onidi of VT , Deanna Kirkeby (Kevin) of FL , James Onidi of Ansonia, Maranda Onidi of Ansonia, Kim Clark (Rob) of Bridgeport, and Janice Hansen of Shelton; Sister in-law Jeanette Morris of NY, In laws Cindy Beauchmin (Paul) of Naugatuck, Ed Downs of West Hartland; Bill Cooke of Derby, Norman Bouchard of FL, and Mike Mazzarella of Southbury; 22 beloved grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family. Janet was predeceased by her loving husband Raymond, twin sister June Hibbard, brother John Bennett, in laws Eleanor Cooke, Helen Bouchard, Dorothy Downs and Susan Mazzarella.
Janet along with her loving husband devoted their lives to providing a loving home to children in need and fostered over 50 children throughout the years. In their later years, they turned to taking in many animals (birds, bunnies, hamsters and dogs) and loved them all.
Janet was a wonderful caregiver to many children and families over the years as a parent aide Supervisor at Parent Child Resource Center. So many kept in touch with Janet over the years. Janet also opened their home to many friends and neighborhood children who considered her the neighborhood mom.
The family will be having a memorial service for Janet and Raymond at a later date.
