Jean Anderson, age 81, of Shelton,entered into rest on Saturday September 3, 2016 in Bridgeport Hospital. She was the devoted wife of the late Nelson Anderson.
Jean was born in Derby on June 5, 1935 daughter of the late Pasquale (Charles) and Elizabeth “Toots” (Rex) Izzo and was a lifelong Shelton resident.
She started working for the City of Shelton in February 1985 as a key puncher. She was recognized for her efficiency in processing payrolls for the City of Shelton and the Board of Education in 1985. She then advanced to payroll clerk where she retired from in October 2009.
Jean also had been the bookkeeper for Simonetti Cleaners for over 30 years. Jean was a member of the Shelton Republican Town Committee for over 20 years. She held the position of Treasurer for most of her tenure. She timelessly worked on the annual RTC picnics, phone banks, and Lincoln Reagan Dinners. Jean received the Governor John Davis Lodge Award in 2009. Active in her community, Jean served on the Library Board for twelve years.
Jean is survived by her sister Madeline Baldino of Canton, and her family.
Jean was an absolute joy to be around and all of us who knew her are saddened by her passing, and we will miss her.
Friends may visit on Monday September 12, 2016 from 4 to 7 PM in the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Road Shelton. On Tuesday friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St,. Joseph Church 424 Coram Ave. Shelton Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery Shelton.
