Jean Cummings Jaekle, a 100 year old Seymour resident and beloved wife of the late Otto C. Jaekle, passed away peacefully at Shady Knoll health Center in Seymour Sept. 27, 2009.
She was born Nov. 30, 1908 at Aberdeen, Scotland, the daughter of Alexander & Jeannie Wiseman Cummings.
She was a resident of Ansonia and Seymour for most of her 97 years in Ct. Jean is predeceased by five brothers and their spouses as well as two of her three sons, Donald E. Jaekle and his wife Ann, Richard C. Jaekle and a grandson Richard C. Jaekle Jr. Jean is survived by two brothers, George L. Cummings of Spring Hill, Florida and Donald M. Cummings & his wife Marion of Woodbury, Ct., daughter in law Regina Jaekle of Watertown, Ct. , and her son Robert C. Jaekle of Seymour & Bangkok, Thailand, as well as five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.
Jean was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Ansonia for 80 years and was active in many church projects over the years, most recently belonging to The Episcopal Church Women, (E.C.W.) group.
For more than 45 years she enjoyed her bingo day at the Ansonia Senior Center as well as group travel and handicraft activities sponsored by the center. Until two months ago, Jean was an active, vibrant person and remained “sharp as a tack” until her passing.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 56 S. Cliff St. Ansonia, Ct. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
