Jeffrey Charles Bobbins Sr., age 63, resident of Seymour, passed away surrounded by his loving family on June 21 at V.A. Hospital in West Haven after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 4, 1947 in Derby, son of Gloria Walsh Bobbins of Seymour and the late Charles Bobbins.
His wife Linda Pastorella Bobbins and brother Christopher predeceased him.
In addition to his mother, he leaves behind his son, Jeffrey Charles Bobbins Jr.
Jeff served his country courageously in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969.
He is a combat Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was wounded by enemy fire.
For his bravery and heroism, Jeff was twice awarded the Purple Heart and was awarded the Bronze Star medal.
He was mentioned several times in a published book called Manchu Delta written by E.R. Bridwell, a platoon mate also serving in Vietnam.
Jeff belonged to the American Legion David S. Miles Post, the Concordia Club and was Vice president of the Seymour Alumni Club.
Jeff attended Pine High School in Ansonia. His previous employment included the Ansonia Post Office and the Ansonia & Derby Tire Shops.
Jeff was also a former proprietor of Franklin Street Café in Seymour.
Jeff was a man of few words with a great sense of humor.
He enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, traveling and trips to the casino. He was a great cook, loved the N.Y. Yankees and disliked the Red Sox.
Above all Jeff was dedicated to his family and friends and will be sadly missed by his son, mom, family and many friends.
Jeff also leaves to cherish his memory five brothers, Phil Bobbins (Sara) of Surfside, S.C., Jim Bobbins (Susan) of Matthews, N.C. Ed Bobbins (Kathy) of Seymour, Steve Bobbins of Seymour and Joe Bobbins of Ansonia, four sisters, Rita Monahan, (David) of Stevenson, Ct., Gloria Anderson (John) of New Zealand, Susan Taylor (Dan) of Georgia & Nora Espinel (Fernando) of Milford, Ct. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, 11:00 a.m. from the Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, (http://www.jenkinskingfh.com) 12 Franklin St. Ansonia. He will be buried in Pine Grove Cemetery privately by the family. Friends may call on Thursday, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
