Jennie Bertanza, age 88, of Shelton entered into rest on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Cambridge Health & Rehabilitation with her loving family by her side.
She was the devoted wife of the late Toby Bertanza. Jennie was born in Bridgeport on October 31, 1932, daughter of the late Manuel and Felicia (Matute) Dominquez and was a Shelton resident for most of her life. She was a longtime waitress at the Huntington Inn. Jennie enjoyed watching movies.
Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially going to her grandchildren’s sporting events. Jennie was the beloved mother of Lisa Bertanza, John (Joanne) Bertanza, Brian (Karen) Bertanza and Mark (Karen) Bertanza and sister of Rich Dominquez and Rose Siwy and best friend and sister-in-law Rose Bertanza. She was the loving grandmother of Jake (Shannon) Bertanza, Jenna (David) Meixner, Shannon (Al) Criscuolo, Brian “Tob” (Lauren) Bertanza, Brittany Bertanza, Kyle Bertanza, Kristie (Rick) Henry, Jill Garrett and Karen Garrett, 7 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and was also survived by several nieces and nephews. Jennie was predeceased by two grandchildren, Sean and Mark Bertanza, five brothers, Manuel, Joseph, Henry, Robert and Anthony Dominques and five sisters, Felicia Felola, Inez Carter, Margie Dominquez, Josephine Carter and Maria Warren.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Thursday, friends may go directly to St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton for her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Her burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
