Joan D. Payne, age 89, formerly of Ansonia, entered into rest on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at her home.
She was the devoted wife of the late Raymond H. Payne. Joan was born in West Haven, on August 12, 1934, daughter of the late Robert and Doris (McMinn) Burns and was an Ansonia resident for most of her life before moving to North Branford 20 years ago.
She was the beloved mother of Deborah (Dustin) Wells, Karen (Charles) Suller, Stacey (Phil) Izzo and the late Donna Manion (Jed) and sister of Arthur Burns, David Burns, Dorothy Pulisciano, Helen Lombardi and Jean Daddio. Joan was the loving grandmother of Mark Severino, Shaun Suller, Jenna Manion, Megan Goodrich and Jordan Manion and great grandmother of Addyson, Tyler, Annabella, Rhiley, Jaxton, Bradyn, Skarlette, Kaelyn, Gabriella and Amelia Joan. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Joan is predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Joan loved spending time with her daughters, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. It gave her the most enjoyment to be with her family . She is most known for hosting wonderful holidays which she took pride in.
Her funeral services are private. The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton has been entrusted with her arrangements.
