Joan P. Poeta, 83, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday June 15, 2014, at Bridgeport Hospital, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of William L. Poeta Sr.
Mrs. Poeta was born in Derby on May 12, 1931, daughter of the late Pasquale and Cecilia Impellitteri Golino. A lifelong resident of Ansonia, she was employed as a secretary for Kerite Co. in Seymour for over 25 years until her retirement. Joan was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia and a member of the Valley Heart Club. She enjoyed playing Bingo and Poker with her friends.
In addition to her husband Bill, she is survived by a loving son, William L. Poeta Jr. (Donna) of Old Lyme, two loving daughters, Lisa Poeta-Bowe and Christine Ciepiela (Michael) of Ansonia, a brother, Pasquale Golino of Hamden, 7 cherished grandchildren, Devon Poeta, Ryan Poeta (Kimberly), Stacy Hultman, Kori Ocascio (Adam), Shannon Lionetti, Jessica Sanchez (Wardys) and Courtney Ciepiela, 15 great-grandchildren, Landon, Leighton, Ava, Madison, Austin, Zachery, Mayah, Adam Jr., Gianna, Owen, Olivia, Jacob, Jaysa, Gabriel, Julius, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Shane Poeta.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday June 19, 2014, from 4 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Friday friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Entombment will take place in Mt. St. Peter Garden Mausoleum in Derby.
