Joan Waldorf

Joan Waldorf, an 80 year old Southbury resident and wife of Earl Waldorf Jr., passed away June 26. She was born Jan. 28, 1945 in Derby, daughter of the late Frederick and Katherine DeWitt Nicholls. 

Joan was a classically trained pianist and organist. She worked in the G.I. Dept of Griffin Hospital in Derby, where she was affectionately referred to as G.I. Joan. 

In addition to her husband Earl, she leaves her son Mark Waldorf (Kristie) of Seymour, daughter Jennifer Stevens (Greg) of Seymour, sister Diane Gray of Southbury, two grandsons James and Samuel Stevens, both of Seymour, granddaughter Shannon Dion of Seymour, and a host of nieces, nephews & cousins. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 2 at 11:00 a.m. at The Calvary Southbury Church, 354 Kettletown Rd. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia. There are no calling hours. The family would like to thank the staff at East Hill Senior Living in Southbury, for the loving and professional care they gave to her. 

The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, has been privileged with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to L.B.D.A., (The Lewy Body Dementia Assoc.) 912 Killian Hill Rd. S.W., Lilburn, GA. 30047.
