Joanna P. Curran,

Joanna P. Curran, 65, beloved wife of John V. Curran, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday October 19, 2010, at the Griffin Hospital, with her loving family by her side. 

Mrs. Curran was born in Derby on June 6, 1945, cherished daughter of Josephine Bedini Pedevillano of Seymour and the late Anthony R. Pedevillano. She was a graduate of Derby High School and later graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in Hartford where she attained her Associates Degree. She then when on to earn her Bachelors and Masters Degree in Special Education from Southern Connecticut State University. Joanna was employed as a Registered Nurse at Yale/New Haven Hospital and then Milford Hospital in the I.C.U. for 30 years until her retirement. She loved to travel, read, bake, cook and entertain family and friends. 

In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by a daughter, Rebecca C. (Mark) Mongillo of Branford, a brother, Anthony (Christine) Pedevillano of Guilford, several nieces and nephews, especially her niece and godchild Libby Pedevillano of Boston and her nephew Michael Pedevillano of Hamden, her granddog Jingles, and was proudly awaiting the arrival of her grandson in January. 

Friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral on Saturday October 23, 2010, at 8:15am, from the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am at the Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery in Derby. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4 – 8 pm.
