Joanne E. (Smith) Borgesano

Joanne E. (Smith) Borgesano, age 67, unexpectedly entered eternal rest on October 1, 2023, in her home. She was the loving wife of Agostino Borgesano.

Joanne was born in Derby on July 9, 1956, daughter of the late Elmer and Margaret Ogle Smith. A resident of Ansonia, she was employed as a special education teacher for the Ansonia Board of Education for thirty years until her retirement. Joanne was a 1974 graduate of Shelton High School where was a member of the color guard in the SHS band and marched with them in the Rose Bowl Parade. She later went on to attain her master’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Joanne enjoyed traveling and was a true animal lover. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her loving granddaughters.

In addition to her husband Agostino, Joanne leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Melissa A. Swan (Jason) of Oxford and Kristen M. Boroski of Milford, step-daughter, Lisa Marie Borgesano of Ansonia, brothers, David A. Smith of Niceville, FL, and Richard E. Smith (Anna) of Seymour, sister, Carolyn Johnson (Deacon Robert Johnson) of Ansonia and granddaughters, Avery, and Kaelyn Swan, along with several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Thursday October 5, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Friday morning, her funeral, will begin at 9:15 am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the Church of the Assumption, 61 N. Cliff Street in Ansonia.
