Joanne Evans

Joanne Evans, age 77, entered into eternal rest in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 19, 2018, in the comfort of her home. She was the beloved and devoted wife of the late William J. Fessy” Evans Sr.

Joanne was born in New Haven on July 27, 1940, daughter of the late Andrew and Caroline Pedevillano Lotto. A lifelong resident of Ansonia, she was employed as a Registered Nurse for the Ansonia Board of Education for twenty-three years until her retirement in 2004. During her nursing career, she also worked at Griffin Hospital, Pathfinders Group Home in Derby, Marlin Fire Arms, Marshall Lane Manor and private duty. Joanne was an active communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia and a member of the choir. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, loving sons, William J. Evans Jr. (Sue) of Wolcott and Robert C. Evans (Amy) of Ansonia, caring brothers, Andrea Lotto of FL, John J. Lotto (Rose) of Ansonia and Kenneth Lotto of Waterbury, caring sister, Angela Lotto of FL, cherished grandchildren, Skylar Evans, Kendall Evans and William E. Evans and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Lotto. 

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday June 21, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Friday, her funeral will begin at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Interment will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the William J. Evans Memorial Award which is awarded to the highest ranking AHS graduate entering the field of Political Science. Please make checks payable to Ansonia Public Schools and in the memo line write William J. Evans Scholarship. Please remit to the funeral home.
