Joao M. Mendes, (AKA John, Bones), age 59, entered peaceful rest on July 10, 2023, in his home in Derby.
John was born in Lisbon, Portugal on June 20, 1964, son of the late Victor L. and Miquelina Figueiredo Mendes. John had a love for cars and was an automobile mechanic prior to retiring. He was a die-hard fan of NASCAR, the New York Jets and soccer.
John leaves to cherish his memory, sons, John Paul Mendes (Kori) of Georgia, Joey A. Mendes (Jacki) of Fort Myers, FL, sisters, Fatima Iranpour (Nader) of Guilford, Patricia Mendes of Ansonia, Bela Mendes of Waterbury, and Natalie Viteri (Mauricio) of Ansonia, five grandchildren, Anthony, Michael, Dylan, Chloe, and Bryce Mendes, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and his Stygar Terrace friends and family.
