John Corsano, age 95, of Stratford passed away on June 9, 2014. He was born in Bridgeport, on February 17, 1919.
He was predeceased by his mother and father Dora and Otto Corsano and sister Lillian Corsano Brennan.
Known as Gypsy John, he loved going to tag-sales, playing cards, golf, drawing and playing the piano. Most of all, he loved singing the colorful songs he had written about his family and friends while accompanying himself on the guitar.
John grew up on the East Side and graduated from Central High School.
He married Theresa Lepone Corsano on October 18, 1941 and resided in the north end of Bridgeport. He was a WWII veteran who served honorably in the European Theater of Operation in the 331st Infantry Regiment Company C.
He was the owner and operator of the Silver Curl Beauty Shop, Security Guard at Korvettes and was an inspector at Sikorsky Aircraft until he retired in 1984.
Survivors include: His wife of 72 years Theresa Corsano and daughter Dolores Corsano Vecchione and son in law Larry Vecchione. Two sons John Corsano, and Michael Corsano. HIs daughter-in-law Janice Corsano of Monroe, CT. Three grandchildren Terilyn Calandro and husband Joseph Calandro, Holly Corsano and Nicholas Corsano-Tsichlas and a beloved great granddaughter Alyse Nicole Calandro.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Mary Church 50 Donovan Lane., Shelton, CT on Friday June 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Followed by full military honors.
