John F. Ives

John F. Ives, 68, entered into eternal rest on October 13, 2016, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, following a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Flora Louann Goble Ives.

John was born in Derby on May 5, 1948, son of the late George and Anna Hesch Ives and Rudolph Schmecker. He resided in Shelton before moving to Derby in 1977. John was employed as a quality control manager at Dictaphone Corp. in Stratford until his retirement. He was a former coach for Derby Biddy Basketball and Derby Little League and enjoyed riding his Harley and especially spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Flora, he is survived by sons, Adam Ives and Cody Ives of Derby, daughters, Marlene Merritt of Naugatuck and Loni Lindsay (Rion) of W. Hartford, a brother, Frank Ives of Shelton, a sister, Anna Musbek of Woodbridge, cherished grandchildren, Matthew Merritt, Lucien, Hudson and Weston Lindsay, Elijah Martin and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Rudolph Schmecker.

A celebration of John’s life will take place at the convenience of the family. The SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, has been privileged with the arrangements.
