John F. Uberti, age 68, resident of Ansonia and husband to Rita Dube Uberti, passed away May 23 after a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 24, 1943 in Derby, son of the late Nicholas & Helen Monaco Uberti. He worked as a mechanic for St. Raphael’s Hospital and was a member of the Teamsters’ Union Chapter #443. John was a parishioner of The Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia and member & Past President of the St. Sebastian’s Men’s Club.
A Veteran of the U.S. Navy Sea Bees, John was a past treasurer of St. Michael’s Catholic War Veterans Post #1562 and a member of The American Legion Post of Oxford.
He was also a member & Past Captain of the Fountain Hose Fire Company #1 in Ansonia and the Derby Lodge of Elks, Chapter #571.
When not out fishing with his friends, John was happiest in his back yard playing with and giving treats to his dog & best friend Bella.
In addition to his loving wife Rita, he is survived by his sisters Elaine Sojka Williams & her husband Jack of Seymour, Andrea Niamtu & her husband John of Oxford, Mary Ann Audas & her husband Jim of McMurray PA., his mother in law Theresa Dube of Ansonia, several nephews, nieces & cousins, and his brother Nicholas Uberti Jr. & his wife Beverly of Shelton.
Following John’s wishes, funeral services are private at the convenience of the family.
