John Felenchak

John Felenchak, age 95, a lifelong resident of Seymour, entered peaceful rest on Saturday, February 8, 2025 in Griffin Hospital. Born in Derby on July 26, 1929, he was the son of the late Astafi and Mildred (Geriak) Felenchak.

John was a retired composer and assistant foreman for the Evening Sentinel Newspaper from 1951 through 1991. A seasoned traveler, John was also talented amateur photographer and captured his many experiences visiting all seven continents, as well as many natural wonders of the world; a passion he enjoyed sharing with anyone who loved a good story. He was a dedicated parishioner at St. Peter and St. Paul Ukrainian Church, Ansonia, and was an avid animal lover, especially cats.

Survivors include his cousins, Kathleen Geriak Gorud, Mary Anne Carnahan and Mark Geriak, all of California. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his sisters, Marian Felenchak and Leona DeWolf, as well as his niece, Judith Legeza.

Funeral services honoring his life will take place on at a date to be determined, directly in Trinity Cemetery, West St. Seymour, CT 06483. The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W.
