John G. Polascik, Sr. age 83, of Ansonia, entered into rest on Monday, July 7, 2014, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. He was the beloved husband of the late Carmen (Malave) Polascik. John was born in Bridgeport on October 18, 1930, son of the late John and Mary (Tkach) Polascik, and lived in Ansonia for most of his life.
He served his country with the US Air Force during the Korean War. John worked for the State of CT as a field auditor for 35 years before retiring in 1989. A longtime Giants and Yankees fan, John loved to travel and spending time with his family.
He is the beloved father of John Polascik and his wife Karen, Daniel Polascik, Diane DeGennaro and her husband Frank, Robert Polascik, Angel Almestica and his wife Nina, and George Ramos. He also leaves a brother Thomas Polascik, and his wife Nancy a sister Irene Polascik and her partner Peter Ambrose, ten cherished grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends can greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM. On Friday, his procession will depart the funeral home at 8:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Stratford.
