John Gary Kane

John Gary Kane, age 87, entered eternal rest on November 16, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Charlotte Bonney Kane.

John, known by most as Gary, was born in Oxford, Maine on October 24, 1936, son of the late Robert E. and Marguerite Quinn Kane. A resident of Ansonia for fifty-seven years, Gary was employed by United Parcel Service in Stratford until his retirement in 1999. A proud veteran, Gary honorably served his country as a deployed member of the United States Marine Corp. Gary was a hard worker who took much pride taking care of his impeccable lawn, yard, and family. He loved fishing, especially on his boat with his family and friends. Gary was an avid bowler and a member of many leagues over the years at Valley Bowl. He also enjoyed dabbling in furniture refinishing with the patience and the particularity that may be surprising. As he became a grandfather and great-grandfather, he enjoyed family dinners, holidays, and spending time with his family, watching his legacy enjoy the world and grow.

In addition to his wife Charlotte, Gary leaves to cherish his memory, loving daughters, Debra Kane Wales of Derby and Marie Kane of Torrington, grandchildren, Alyssa Duley (Mark) of Seymour, Joshua Cocce of Milford, and Amanda Critelli (Anthony) of Smithtown, Long Island, great-grandchildren, Madison and Mason Duley, Guy and Nicolas Cocce, Aiden McIntyre, Asher, and Axel Critelli, along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, extended family, and decades-long friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son-in-law, Richard E. Wales; brothers, James, Robert, Thomas and Michael Kane and sister, Eleanor Plummer.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Wednesday morning, his funeral will begin at 11:15 am from the funeral home then proceed to Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon. United States Marine Corp. military honors will be accorded following Mass. A private burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery in Oxford, Maine.
