John Geleta

John Geleta, age 89 a lifelong Seymour resident entered into peaceful rest June 30, 2013 at the Yale New Haven Hospital.

Mr. Geleta was born October 14, 1923 in Seymour, beloved son of the late Dimitro and Anna (Sokol) Geleta.

He was a retired Machine Operator from the Bridgeport Brass Co. formerly in Seymour. John was WW II U.S. Army Veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. He was a communicant of Three Saints Orthodox Church, Ansonia; he belonged to the Seymour V.F.W., the Russian-American Club, and the Seymour Senior Center.

Mr. Geleta leaves his loving family including, his sister, Helen Behuniak of Seymour, and several nieces and nephews including, Linda Sheldon, Robert, Richard, Michael and Thomas Bryce, Greg, Stephen, and Milton Cochran, and Shirley DeMatteo and Donna Suggs. His sisters Rose Rotko, Eva Bryce, and Antoinette Cochran predeceased him.

Calling Hours are Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home to Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Av., Ansonia for 10 a.m. Interment with Full Military Honors will be in Three Saints Cemetery, Derby.
