John Giugno

John Giugno, 86, of Derby, entered into eternal rest on July 4, 2014, at Griffin Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Concetta Petito Giugno.

Mr. Giugno was born in Caltanissetta, Sicily, Italy on Dec. 24, 1927, son of the late Giuseppe and Carolina Ragusa Giugno. He was employed as a set-up man for BIC Pen in Milford for 33 years until his retirement in 1994. Prior to coming to the U.S., he served as a carabiniera in the Italian military police force. John enjoyed riding his moped and gardening.

He is survived by two loving sons, Joseph Giugno and George Giugno (Maria) of Derby, four cherished grandchildren, Daniela, Gianni, Mariella and Georgette Giugno, a great grandson, Camden Giugno, two brothers, Rosario and Angelo Giugno , two sisters, Concetta Martullo and Lena Giugno all of Italy and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday July 7, 2014, from 4 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver St. in Ansonia. On Tuesday, his funeral will be held at 11:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon at St. Jude’s Church in Derby. Entombment will take place in Mt. St. Peter Mausoleum in Derby.
