John J. “Rab” LaRovera Sr., 86, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on November 13, 2011, at Griffin Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn A. Semmeler LaRovera.
Mr. LaRovera was born in Ansonia on April 24, 1925, son of the late Carlo and Antoinette Mamarelli LaRovera. A lifelong resident of Ansonia, he was employed by the City of Ansonia Public Works Department for over thirty years until his retirement. John enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by a loving son, John J. LaRovera Jr. and his wife Maryann of Ansonia, a loving daughter, Suzanne L. LaRovera of Ansonia, two cherished grandchildren, John J. LaRovera III of Shelton and Anita M. LaRovera of Ansonia, a loving brother, William M. LaRovera Sr. and his wife Rita of Seymour, two loving and devoted sisters, Viola LaRovera and Grace LaRovera of Ansonia, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Esther D’Alessio.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Thursday November 17, 2011, at 8:45am from the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at the Church of the Assumption in Ansonia. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. Visiting hours will be held on WEDNESDAY from 3 – 7 pm.
