John J. Shamaly, Sr.

John J. Shamaly, Sr. age 74 of Shelton entered into rest on Tuesday January 25, 2011 in the CT Hospice Branford. He is the devoted husband of 51 years to Joan Skebo Shamaly. Mr. Shamaly was born in Derby December 9, 1936 son of the late Joseph and Natalie Kado Shamaly and has been a Shelton resident for most of his life, and was an enlisted member of the National Guard. 

John started his career in 1956 with Perkin Elmer; he then transferred to the Optical Technology Division, and became a group leader for the Electrical Engineering and later manager of Engineering Imaging Group. During the early 70’s John joined a special group within OTD to develop commercial business products such as the fax machine, he then returned to the EO division as Director of Electrical Engineering. In the early to mid 80’s John joined Micro lithography Division of Perkin Elmer. In the late 80’;s John began to work at a start up company Visionetics, in the early 90’s he started his own consulting firm JJS associates. He then returned to Perkin Elmer/SVG of the Program Director of Micrascan II, and then went on to become the Vice President of Marketing and Technology, in 1997 he was promoted to the Vice President of Corporate Marketing, and in 1999 was promoted to President of SVGL. He retired in 2004 and enjoyed golfing , and spending time with his grandchildren. John has played a major role in the advancing of the Lithography technology for the last 20 years. He is part of a small group of individuals who make a difference in this industry. 

He is the beloved father of John J. Jack” Shamaly, Jr., and his companion Leanna Lopez, Peter Shamaly and his wife Judith, Lawrence Shamaly and his companion Liz Althen, Gregory Shamaly and his wife Lisa, and Brian Shamaly and his wife Nicole. He is the loving brother of Thomas Shamaly, and the cherished grandfather of Kerry, Tyler, Kali, Shannon, Jake, Luke, Matthew, and Michael and also leaves several nieces and nephews. 

Friends may greet his family on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM in the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Road Shelton. On Monday his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10;45 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in St. Lawrence Church. Burial will follow in Mt, St. Peter Cemetery Derby.
