John “Jack” M. Sember, age 82, entered into eternal rest on April 25, 2021 at Griffin Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Jean Lawrence Sember.
Jack was born in Derby on July 9, 1938, son of the late John and Ann Duke Sember. A resident of Ansonia, Jack was employed as a Pattern Maker for Peerless Aluminum Foundry in Bridgeport until his retirement. He played softball in the Valley and bowled duck pins in his younger years. Jack was an umpire for the Valley Umpire’s Association and the former president of Ansonia Biddy Basketball. One of Jack’s favorite hobbies was fishing.
In addition to his wife Jean, Jack leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Jeffrey Sember (Maxine) of Seymour, and Scott Sember (Terri) of Florida, a daughter, Lynette Glynn (Michael) of Florida, daughter-in-law, Donna Sember of Naugatuck, grandchildren, Scott Sember (Rebecca) of Ansonia, Thomas Sember (Erin) of Florida, Gregory Sember (Lauren) of Seymour, Diana Greco (Corey) of Seymour, Michael Sember of Naugatuck, Krystal Sember (Kristy Llibre) of Florida, Amanda Sember (Ivan Smith) of Beacon Falls, Meghan Glynn of Washington, DC and Jessica Sember of Naugatuck, great grandchildren, Lucas, Evelyn, Cole, Zoey and Taya, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Gregory M. Sember.
A walk-through visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2021, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance as they walk through to pay their respects and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through. On Monday all are welcome to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am (meet directly) at the Church of the Assumption in Ansonia.
