John Morales

John Joseph Morales, age 82, of Shelton, CT entered into eternal rest on July 7th at Bridgeport Hospital after a three year battle with cancer. Devoted husband of Kathryn Rutz Morales. 

Born on May 13, 1936 to Louis and Louise Morales. John lived his early years in Hudson County New Jersey, graduate of Emerson High School and earning BS and MS degrees in Physics from Fairleigh Dickinson University. It was in Freshman Chemistry class he met Kathryn. They married in 1961, lived in Fort Lee, NJ where there daughter Kathleen was born, Norwalk, CT, Waldwick, NJ and finally Huntington CT for the last 50 years. Founder and President of SRC Laboratories in Fairfield CT for many years. The firm made photomultiplier tubes used in gamma cameras and medical testing devices. Holder of several scientific patents. Part of a team that discovered the quark. Amateur radio operator. Made the best pizza in town and was a poet extraordinaire. 

Loving dad to Kathleen and her husband Bjorn Davis, treasured PopPop to Kaitlin, Connor and Kristoffer Davis. Faithfully remembered by his sister June DeLuca and her children, Michelle Barton and Steven and John DeLuca. 

Friends may call on Thursday from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Friday, his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian burial in memory of John at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church 505 Shelton Ave, Shelton, CT at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Lawn Cemetery.
