John R. Rauser, age 88, of Monroe entered into rest on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport. He was the beloved husband of 61 years of the late Dolores Mae (Doody) Rauser.
John was born in Chicago, IL on May 15, 1929, son of the late Harold and Alberta (Sullivan) Rauser, and lived in Monroe for over 40 years. He served his country with the U.S. Army. John graduated from Loyola University in Chicago and remained a loyal fan of Ramblers through his life. He was a CPA and worked for Burndy in Norwalk until his retirement. John was an enthusiastic golfer and bowler, enjoyed watching television, and was an avid Notre Dame fan and never missed watching them on television.
He is the beloved father of Janet Cordova and her husband Frank, Patricia Donofrio and her husband Robert, John J. Rauser and his wife Jennifer, and William J. Rauser and his wife Mary Beth. He also leaves his brother, Edward Rauser and his wife Marilyn, his brother-in-law Jerry Cotter, nine cherished grandchildren, Christina Greenlaw (Brett), Major Amy Granados (Major Philip), Jennifer Donofrio, Robert Donofrio, Jr. (Danielle), Timothy Donofrio, William Donofrio, Casey Rauser, Emily Rauser, and Colleen Rauser, five great grandchildren, Alyssa, Dylan, Kasia, Harper, and Robin, with another great-grandson due in September, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Ann Cotter and his grandson Charles Bucher.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. On Saturday his procession will leave the funeral home at 8:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM, followed by Full Military Honors, at St. Mary Church in Derby.
