John R. “Jack” Williams

John R. Jack” Williams, age 87, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Thursday morning, January 27, 2022, in the comfort of his home, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Elaine Uberti Sojka Williams. 

John was born in Derby on March 11, 1934, son of the late John and Mildred Skurat Williams. John was raised by his late aunt and uncle, Mamie Skurat Scholz and Abion Scholz. Jack was a dedicated City of Ansonia police officer for forty-two years. He was a scrabble enthusiast as well as his love to bowl and take trips to the casino. He had an unconditional love for the Dallas Cowboys. They could never do wrong!” 

In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory, a step-son, Robert Sojka (Heidi) of Southbury, a special step-daughter, Renee Sojka of Seymour, granddaughters, Ashley Sojka of New Britain and Taylor Sojka of Fairfield, grandsons, Eric, Joshua and Cameron Sojka of Southbury and many friends. The family would like to thank Masonicare for their loving support, Marion, his aide, for her wonderful care along with Jack’s sister-in-law, Rita Uberti, for all of her nursing care and love for him. 

Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Friday, February 4, 2022, at 10:30 am, meeting directly at Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Drive in Ansonia, for his Mass of Christian Burial. Masks are required in church. Private entombment will take place in Mt. St. Peter’s Mausoleum in Derby.
