John Robert Horahan

John Robert Horahan, age 89, of New Port Richey, FL passed away peacefully on January 13, 2022. Born in Bridgeport on December 29, 1932 he was the son of the late John Nilan Horahan and Margaret Kenderski. John served in the United States Military, Army branch of service during the Korean War and later would work for the United States Postal Service until his retirement to the sunshine state.

He is survived by his children, John Horahan (Susan) of Shelton, Dawn Horahan of Derby, Helen Solotruk (Mark) of Shelton; grandchildren, Alexandra and John Horahan, Sherrie Ostrich, Kimberly Skerencak and Jessica Solotruk along with five great-grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Alice Horahan of Newtown and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Robert Horahan and James Horahan.

Anybody who knew John knew he was an avid sports fan whose interests spanned across college football and basketball, horse racing and Jai Alai just to mention a few. During his visits to Connecticut he took advantage of seeing his grandchildren play their school sports and cheering them on. He loved socializing with his family and friends. There will be a small service for immediate family members only. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
