John S. Baker, age 85, of Shelton, entered into rest on Saturday, February 28, 2015 in his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy Glendenning Traphagen Baker.
John was born in Bridgeport on December 17, 1929, son of the late Steven and Theresa Bejek, and he lived in Shelton for 28 years.
John spent over 30 years in banking, and worked for the Mechanics and Farmers Bank until he retired twenty five years ago. He was also a longtime member of the Masons.
John is the beloved father of Kathryn Selway, Janet Reynolds and her husband Ted, Christina Baker, and Meredeth Hoffman and her husband John. He leaves two step-daughters, Marie Traphagen Gottlieb and her husband, the late Gerald Gottlieb, and Barbara Chambers and her husband James. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Allison, Henry, Rachel, Carrie, Kimberly, Traci Fae, and Douglas, his great-granddaughter Cameron, and a brother, Steven Bejek.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Friday from 10 to 11 AM. His funeral service will begin at Riverview at 11 AM on Friday. Burial will follow at Aspetuck Cemetery in Easton.
