John Toth, 91, of Shelton, peacefully entered into rest on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at his home with his family by his side. He is the beloved husband of 65 years of Madlyn (Roy) Toth.
John was born in Baden, Czechoslovakia on September 24, 1922, son of the late John and Anna (Moravzik) Toth, and lived in Shelton for 65 years. John served in the US Army during WWII and participated in the invasions of Leyte Island, Okinawa, and the first occupation of Japan. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
He worked in machine tool design for most of his life before becoming a teacher at Bullard Havens Tech and the University of Bridgeport, retiring in 1990. John was an avid golfer, bowler, and he enjoyed feeding the birds. An accomplished musician, he played in country bands throughout the country.
He is the beloved father of John V. Roy and his wife Darlene, John E. Toth and his wife Susan, and Linda Martino and her husband Tom; loving grandfather of Justin, Ariel and Angela Toth, Michelle and Danielle Martino, Debbie Maciog, Donna Roy, Denise Quales. He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
His funeral service with full military honors were held on Saturday Evening at 5:30 pm in the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd. Shelton with Pastor Lucille Fritz, officiating.
