Jon J. Coleman

Jon J. Coleman, age 67, entered into eternal rest on May 10, 2021, in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Diane Bednarek Coleman. 

Jon was born in New Haven on July 27, 1953, son of the late Malcolm and Dorothy Clouse Coleman. Jon was raised in Orange and then settled as a resident in Seymour. He was employed as an Aircraft Mechanic at Sikorsky Aircraft, both in Stratford and Bridgeport, until his retirement. You could always find Jon tending to his Koi pond and gardening in his home garden. 

He was an avid boater and fisherman and he also enjoyed traveling. Jon loved going to see UCONN women’s basketball games and even attended a few Final Four and National Championship games. 

In addition to his wife Diane, Jon leaves to cherish his memory a loving son, Shawn P. Burke of Seymour, brothers, Jerome Coleman (Adrienne) of Milford, Thomas Coleman of Entiat, WA, Christopher Coleman of Waltham, MA, and Kevin Coleman (Ann Marie) of Wallingford, a sister, Karen Albarella (Frank) of Sun City Center, FL, along with several nieces and nephews. A walk-through visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. 

Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance as they walk through to pay their respects and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can pass through. On Monday, all are welcome to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. (meeting directly) at the Church of the Good Shepherd, (St. Nicholas Parish) 135 Mountain Road in Seymour. Interment will follow in Orange Center Cemetery in Orange. Contributions in Jon’s name may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
