Joseph D. Arnone, 81, of Ansonia, unexpectedly entered into eternal rest on September 14, 2014, at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Valerie Grottole Arnone.
Mr. Arnone was born in Ansonia on December 15, 1932, son of the late Antonio and Julia Secondo Arnone. A lifelong resident of Ansonia, he was employed as an X‑Ray Technologist at West Haven Veterans’ Administration Hospital for 45 years until his retirement in 2004. A proud veteran, he honorably served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Joe was a graduate of Ansonia High School where he played football. He was a member of American Legion Post 127 in Orange, enjoyed fishing and gardening, and was an avid fan of the New York Mets and all of football.
In addition to his wife Valerie, he is survived by a loving son, Joseph J. Arnone of Ludlow, MA, a loving daughter, Julie M. Arnone of Ansonia and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by brothers, Thomas and Achilles Arnone and a sister, Rose Arnone.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday September 17, 2014, at 10:00 am (Please Meet Directly) at Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Drive, Ansonia, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with U.S. Navy honors will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. Per Joe’s request, there will be no visiting hours.
