Joseph D. Mylen Sr., 62, of Beacon Falls, peacefully entered into eternal rest on September 2, 2013, in the comfort of his home, with his loving family by his side. He is the beloved husband of Laurie Howes Mylen.
Mr. Mylen was born in Calais, Maine on Dec. 6, 1950, son of the late James Mylen Sr. and Mary Kelly. A resident of Beacon Falls since 1985, he was a self-employed architectural building designer, builder, and home improvement contractor under the name of Mycon Associates. Joe was a member of the conservation commission in Beacon Falls and Beacon Falls Congregational Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 sons, Jason D. Mylen (Melissa Copp) of Ft. Hood, TX, Jeffrey D. Mylen (Deanna) of Beacon Falls, and Joseph D. Mylen Jr. of Beacon Falls, a daughter, Shawna Vallillo (Vincent) of Shelton, 2 brothers, Peter M. Mylen (Kristin) of Pink Hill, NC and James D. Mylen Jr. (Faye) of Clinton, 2 sisters, Michelle Shipritt of Prospect and Patricia M. Mylen of Branford, 8 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Beverly Mylen-Kelly.
Friends and relatives are invited to pay respects and greet the family on Friday Sept. 6, 2013 from 5 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. At 7:00 pm, a funeral service and celebration of Joe’s life will take place with Rev. Doreen Horstman officiating. Burial will be private.
