Joseph D. Tramontano, a 78 year old Oxford resident and husband to Angela Tramontano. He was born Oct. 13, 1944 in West Hartford, CT., the son of the late Joseph and Marie Loffredo Tramontano.
Joseph served in the The U.S Army from 1963 – 1966 in the 11th Airborne Division and 1st Air Cav division in the Vietnam War. He participated in operations in Ia Drang valley, Chu Pong, A Shau, Kontum, Pleiku, Plemei Bong Sonh and in operations in Cambodia. He received The National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Paratrooper badge, Repel Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, PRCHT Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and the Purple Heart. He was the Owner and Proprietor of ‘Jo The Bug Man’ exterminating business. He was also a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son Joseph Anthony.
In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory his children Erica Marie Tramontano-Diaz of Raeford, N.C., Evan John Tramontano of Oxford CT., and Alexis Laura Tramontano of Fayetteville, N.C. and two grandsons and two granddaughters. Friends may call on Tuesday (Today) from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Burial with military honors rendered will follow in St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made To American Cancer Society.
