Joseph F. Turro Sr.

Joseph F. Turro Sr., 90, of Derby, peacefully entered into eternal rest on March 27, 2013, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. He was the beloved husband of the late Ann Urquhart Turro.

Mr. Turro was born in Derby on Sept. 1, 1922, son of the late Frank and Elvira Pucella Turro. A lifelong resident of the Derby community, he was a self-employed electrical contractor his entire career. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having honorably served during WW II. Joe was a member of the Derby Elks Lodge #571 and enjoyed gardening and spending time in Ft. Myers, FL.

He is survived by three sons, Joseph F. Turro Jr. of Derby, Edward Turro (Linda Scacco) of W. Hartford, and Thomas Turro (Diane) of Seymour, a daughter, Elaine Branca (Tony) of Shelton, four cherished grandchildren, Anthony Branca and Katherine, Molly and Michael Turro and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce Turro, a brother, Daniel Turro and sisters, Theresa Fagan, Elvira Pucella and Evelyn Scarpa.

Visiting will take place on Monday morning April 1, 2013, from 7:45 am until 8:30 am in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. At 8:30 am, his funeral will process to St. Mary’s Church in Derby for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery in Derby.
